Chancellor’s Leadership Class
Applications available February 20, 2017
Established in 1980, the Chancellor’s Leadership Class (CLC) is a unique leadership experience designed to recognize incoming freshmen who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to achieving their leadership potential. CLC is a yearlong program that will provide 30 students with opportunities to develop and practice the skills, values, and knowledge of effective leadership. Participants in CLC have the chance to develop friendships with other first-year students who have a shared enthusiasm for leadership and making a difference.
Participants enroll in a one-credit hour course during the fall and spring semesters. The class meets once a week and takes a hands-on approach to helping you learn more about personal leadership styles, teamwork, ethics, group dynamics and inclusive leadership. Other experiences include community service projects, guest presenters and teambuilding activities at a ropes course. During the second semester, students will identify a real-world issue they are passionate about and develop an action plan to address this problem. Participants will have the opportunity to share their final vision with a variety of university administrators, faculty and staff.
