Step Forward Day

Step Forward Day is a tradition on the MU campus. It is a one day service event geared toward first-year students, freshmen and transfers. New students have the opportunity to learn about and participate in community service projects through the Columbia community. Students meet at Tiger Plaza for registration in the morning, are then bused to a local service agency, volunteer for a few hours, and then are bused back to Tiger Plaza.

Step Forward Day will be Saturday, August 22, 2015
All students receive a free t-shirt* and complimentary breakfast! The event is free and open to all first-year and new transfer students. This is a wonderful way to become familiar with the City of Columbia and to expose one’s self to volunteerism in one’s community. Some agencies which have benefited from Step Forward Day include: Columbia Second Chance, Columbia Public Works, Food Bank, and Boys and Girls Club. Community service is valued at MU and Step Forward Day upholds that value.*While supplies last

Since I am a freshman, Step Forward Day was a wonderful opportunity to get involved even before the school year officially started. I was one of two people from my graduating class to come to Mizzou, so it was nice to get to know other first year Mizzou students and upperclassmen!Taylor Warren
